Maren Costa joined Amazon in 2002 as a designer for the retail website and went on to create Amazon’s first-ever user-centered design process, which remains in use today. She later became the company’s first Principal User Experience Designer, contributing to major projects like the retail website, Amazon Go stores, Alexa, and early-stage, confidential innovation initiatives. Maren holds 14 patents, with 2 more pending, showcasing her dedication to cutting-edge design and innovation.
Beyond her professional achievements, Maren is a founding member of Amazon Employees for Climate Justice, a group advocating for Amazon to become a leader in addressing climate change. Before joining Amazon, she pursued her creative passions by founding Synapse, a women’s art collective, while exploring poetry, photography, and physics.
